Another edition of the Poltraf conference is behind us!

The Poltraf conference took place in Białka Tatrzańska from October 8-10, 2025. It was the 9th edition of our conference, this time dedicated to new solutions in process and environmental measurement.

The Poltraf conference "Process and Environment Measurement. New Solutions in Process and Environmental Measurement" took place on October 8-10, 2025, in Białka Tatrzańska. The meeting attracted nearly 100 guests from across Poland to this picturesque mountain town. The lecture topics and the opportunity to meet with measurement device manufacturers made this year's conference extremely popular, and the available seats filled up very quickly.

Poltraf Conference – Day 1

The first day of the conference traditionally offered a significant dose of knowledge. We began with a presentation from Poltraf. We showcased devices for pressure, level, flow, temperature, gas detection, and analytics. Some of these devices were on display during the conference. Among them were also new products, such as the Trafag TLR radar level probe and the Ion Science ARA-X4 personal multi-gas detector.

The presentation by our partner, the Czech manufacturer Comac Cal, focused on the classic Flow38 series electromagnetic flowmeters, including those for partially filled pipes (Flow55). Among the flowmeters on display was the most popular Comac Cal electromagnetic flowmeter – the Flow38, in a version with a movable flange, which allows for greater flexibility during installation.

The next speakers were representatives of In-Situ, an American manufacturer of water quality measurement devices. The main topic of Paul Norman and Anjie Stevens' presentation was the monitoring of dissolved oxygen and ammonia in wastewater treatment processes. Our guests appreciated not only the topic of the In-Situ presentation but also the fact that it was presented in Polish. Conference attendees had the opportunity to see live in-situ water quality measurement devices, including the Turbitechsuspended solids and turbidity sensor with automatic cleaning system, Solitech IR sensors for measuring sludge density and level, the RDO Blue dissolved oxygen sensor, and many others.

This year's debut belonged to Fatih Yilmaz, CEO of Bass Instruments. Bass Instruments is a Turkish manufacturer of pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement devices. The main focus of Bass Instruments' presentation was devices for measuring flow in partially filled and non-permanent pipelines. TheRSHU radar flowmeter also attracted considerable interest at our equipment display. The RSHU is an excellent solution for non-contact flow measurement in storm sewers, wastewater treatment plants, and industry.

Last but not least – Lukas Dudkowski from Systec Controls. Systec Controls is a German manufacturer of flow measurement devices. Last year's somewhat stressful first presentation at the Poltraf conference was gone. This year's presentation consisted of two parts. The first was devoted to a new device – the DeltawaveCC. The DeltawaveCC is a cost-effective solution for non-contact measurements (ultrasonic flowmeter). The second part focuses on gas flow measurements. During the presentation, participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with devices from this manufacturer, including Systec Controls' patented Pitot tube and the DeltawaveC-P ultrasonic flowmeter.

Systec Controls' presentation concluded our presentation, but the guests remained in the audience for a long time. Additional questions and conversations with all the speakers demonstrated that the topics presented were of great interest to our conference participants.
We concluded the first day of the conference with a barbecue dinner. To the rhythm of highland music, we competed in highland skills: best dancer, best farmer's wife, and best singer. Among the competition winners were not only our guests but also speakers: Fatih Yilmaz and Anjie Stevens, and the song "When I Was a Little Boy" performed by Paul Norman will long remain in our memories!

Poltraf Conference – Day 2

The area around Białka Tatrzańska is rich in tourist attractions. That day, we visited the beautifully situated castle in Niedzica. The pumped-storage power plant located next to the castle also generated considerable interest. We concluded our tour of the power plant with a souvenir photo at the top of the dam. It's worth noting that the Niedzica dam is the highest earthen dam in Poland with a central clay seal. The dam is 56 meters high (we climbed a lot of stairs!) and 404 meters long.

We concluded our eventful day with a gala dinner at the hotel.

We would like to thank all our guests for attending this year's conference and look forward to welcoming you to future editions!

Electromagnetic flowmeter - types and applications

An electromagnetic flowmeter is a device used to measure the flow of electrically conducting liquids. Electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in the water supply and sewage industry to measure water and wastewater flow. They are also used in measuring the flow of technological water (e.g. in mines) or in the food industry (e.g. juice production, dairies). The device works on the principle of Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and uses the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction.
