The gas sensor, manufactured by Trafag, is specially designed to monitor SF6 gases and alternative gases. The gas density is measured with an oscillating quartz with excellent long-term stability. The constant resonance frequency of a quartz oscillator in a vacuum is compared with the resonance frequency of an identical quartz in the gas sample. The resonance frequency difference is proportional to the sample gas density.
